Euskadi-Murias will be racing as guest team the next edition of the Itzulia, which will be held from 2nd to 7th of April.
This is one of the big novelties of this edition because since Euskaltel-Euskadi competed for the last time in the 2013's race, there has been no presence of any team from Basque Country in the competition.
In this 2018, in its fourth year of existence, Euskadi-Murias has made the leap to the Professional Continental division. The team is facing this new season with a calendar full of WorldTour races, such as the Itzulia or the Volta a Catalunya. In addition, they keep the illusion of being invited by one of the three big races -Tour de France, Vuelta a España or Giro d’Italia-.
The presentation of the two formations sponsored by the Murias Group took place on January 18th, at the Gorbeia Cinemas: The Euskadi-Murias male team and the Bizkaia Durango female team, newly integrated into the group’s structure.
Basque male squad has an average age of 25.6 years and it’s composed of 20 cyclists, 10 new faces that had joined the ten members who are continuing their career in the team.
With regard to where the cyclists come from, there are 5 from Gipuzkoa -Aritz Bagües, Garikoitz Bravo, Julen Irizar, Mikel Iturria, Mikel Aristi-; 4 from Biscay -Ander Barrenetxea, Mikel Bizkarra, Aitor González, Gotzon Udondo-; 4 from Navarre -Beñat Txoperena, Oscar Rodríguez, Enrique Sanz, Sergio Rodríguez-; one from Álava -Jon Aberasturi-; 2 from France -Cyril Barthe, Julien Loubet-; 2 from Huesca -Fernando Barceló, Sergio Samitier-; one from Tarragon -Eduard Prades-; and one from Albacete -Hector Sáez-.
A team with a lot of talent and eager to do well in first level races. Surely Euskadi-Murias will be noticed in the Itzulia 2018.
