The Itzulia 2018, which will be held from April 2nd to 7th, has been presented this midday in the Malecón of Zarautz, which will be the starting point of race’s 58th edition.

The event has been directed by the official speaker of the Itzulia, Iñigo Asensio, and there have participated Julián Eraso, president of OCETA; Jon Mikel Korta, Banco Sabadell’s regional director; Denis Itxaso, deputy of Sports in Gipuzkoa; Joseba Pérez de Heredia, Sports director of Álava’s Diputación; and the mayor of Zarautz, Xabier Txurruka.

The route of this year totals 805,9 kilometers and 22 mountain passes. It is slightly shorter than in previous editions, but is faithful to race’s philosophy.

In addition, some novelties have been introduced this year such as the I.T.T celebration in the 4th stage or the time bonuses that will be given to the first three classified in the finish line (10’ 6’ y 4’) and the intermediate sprints (3’ 2’ y 1’).

In the Itzulia 2018, 22 teams will take part, with seven cyclists in each one. The unofficial list of the 154 riders includes some important names. It can be seen in the ‘Teams’ section.

Zaporeak project will repeat in the organization of pintxopotes during the Itzulia. They will help in the festive atmosphere of the event and they want also to raise funds to continue in their work of feeding refugees in Greece. This year they will be in the first stage in Zarautz (April 2nd) and in the fifth stage in Eibar (April 6th).
