The route of the Itzulia 2019, which will be held from April 8th to 13th, has been presented this morning. In this 59th edition of the basque tour 783,7 kilometers will be covered in six stages, one of them an Individual Time Trial. The route includes 22 mountain passes: five of 1st category, two of 2nd category and fifteen of 3rd category.

Summary of the stages:

**1st Stage: Zumarraga – Zumarraga **

Itzulia 2019 will start on April 8th and it will begin with an Individual Time Trial of 11,2 kilometers. The route will be short but intense because at 8,1 kilometer there will be La Antigua climb. It is 2,3 kilometers long and it has a drop of 225 meters and an average slope of 9,7%, reaching a maximum slope of 21% in the final 100 meters. Therefore, it will be a scoring mountain pass of 3rdcategory and the corresponding points (3, 2 and 1) will be given to the three riders spending less time in the ascent, from the start of the mountain to the pass at the climb.

With an accumulated height of 330,8 meters, the inaugural stage will begin at Iparraguirre street, 12 on Zumarraga and it will end at the same town. The approximate start of the first cyclist is scheduled at 14:15, while the last rider will be starting at 17:15 and will be arriving at 17:30.

**2nd Stage: Zumarraga – Gorraiz **

On April 9th, 149,5 kilometers will be raced. The route will start like the day before in the Zumarraga at 13:37 and it will end in Gorraiz between 17:19 and 17:41. This stage has 4.800 meters of sterrato, two mountain passes and two sprints:

- Olaberria Gaina of 3rd category at Km 23,5: Length of 1,6 Km – Average slope of 7,5% - Drop of 120 m

- Lizarrusti of 3rd category at Km 42,3: Length of 6,4 Km – Average slope of 4,7% - Drop of 300 m

- Sprint in Biriku at Km 111,8

- Sprint in Sarriguren at Km 125,9

**3rd Stage: Sarriguren – Estibaliz **

On April 10th, 191,4 kilometers will be raced. This is the longest route of edition that will start in Sarrigurenat 12:18 and it will end in Estibaliz Sanctuary between 17:16 and 17:45. This stage has two mountain passes and two sprints:

- Goñi of 2nd category at Km 26,8: Length of 8,9 Km – Average slope of 4,7% - Drop of 413 m

- Sprint in Uribarri Harana at Km 125,3

- Opakua of 3rd category at Km 133,9: Length of 4,6 Km – Average slope of 4,7% - Drop of 220 m

- Sprint in Uribarri Gamboa at Km 172,5

**4th Stage: Vitoria-Gasteiz – Arrigorriaga **

On April 11th, 163,6 kilometers will be raced. The route will start in the Mendizabala Park of Vitoria at 13:12 and it will end in Arrigorriaga between 17:18 and 17:42. This stage has four mountain passes and two sprints:

- Las Campas of 3rd category at Km 55,9: Length of 3,1 Km – Average slope of 5,8% - Drop of 176 m

- Garate of 3rd category at Km 96,3: Length of 1,5 Km – Average slope of 6,2% - Drop of 94 m

- Sprint in Undurraga at Km 118,6

- Bikoitz Gane of 1st category at Km 126,8: Length of 4,9 Km – Average slope of 8,6% - Drop of 420 m

- Sprint in Orozko at Km 136,1

- Zaratamo of 3rd category at Km 161,3: Length of 4 Km – Average slope of 3,2% - Drop of 129 m

**5th Stage: Arrigorriaga – Arrate **

On April 12th, 149,8 kilometers will be raced. The route will start in Arrigorriaga at 13:40 and it will end in Arrate between 17:19 and 17:41. This stage has seven mountain passes and two sprints:

- Morga Gaina of 3rd category at Km 17,2: Length of 4,1 Km – Average slope of 5,7% - Drop of 231 m

- Natxitua of 3rd category at Km 53,3: Length of 2,5 Km – Average slope of 3,2% - Drop of 76 m

- Bedarona of 3rd category at Km 58,1: Length of 2,1 Km – Average slope of 7,4% - Drop of 148 m

- Arribinieta of 3rd category at Km 86,8: Length of 2,8 Km – Average slope of 7,4% - Drop of 208 m

- Sprint in Elgoibar at Km 99,8

- Izua Gaina of 1st category at Km 110,2: Length of 3 Km – Average slope of 12,7% - Drop of 389 m

- Sprint in Markina at Km 121,4

- Trabakua of 3rd category at Km 130,5: Length of 6 Km – Average slope of 4,4% - Drop of 266 m

- Usartza Gaina of 1s category at Km 147,6: Length of 5 Km – Average slope of 8,8% - Drop of 429 m

**6th Stage: Eibar – Eibar **

On April 13th, 118,2 kilometers will be raced. The route will start in the Untzaga Square of Eibar at 14:10 and it will end at the same town between 17:21 y las 17:39. This stage has six mountain passes and two sprints:

- San Miguel of 3rd category at Km 9: Length of 4,9 Km – Average slope of 6,7% - Drop of 295 m

- Kalbario Gaina of 3rd category at Km 37,6: Length of 2,2 Km – Average slope of 8% - Drop of 175 m

- Elkorrieta of 3rd category at Km 44,8: Length of 2,6 Km – Average slope of 6,7% - Drop of 171 m

- Muniketa of 3rd category at Km 39,4: Length of 3,5 Km – Average slope of 6,49% - Drop of 246 m

- Azurki Gaina of 1st category at Km 56,3: Length of 6,4 Km – Average slope of 6,8% - Drop of 436 m

- Sprint in Elgoibar at Km 69,5

- Karakate Gaina of 1st category at Km 80,8: Length of 5,2 Km – Average slope of 8,5% - Drop of 444 m

- Sprint in Eibar at Km 96,1

- Asensio Gaina of 2nd category at Km 103,4: Length of 7,3 Km – Average slope of 5,1% - Drop of 375 m
